The Pixar Big Blue Bird Needs a Name

The Pixar Big Blue Bird Needs a Name
The Issue
Did you know the first 3 birds that land on the powerline in the Pixar short “For the Birds” have names? It’s true! Chipper, Snob, and Neurotic are the names of the first three birds. But the big, friendly, happy-go-lucky bird doesn’t have a name :( It seems that once again, he’s left out. Poor guy. Don’t we all know what it feels like to be left out? This adorable short reminds us of that, but by not naming him the makers simultaneously leave out the very character meant to be included.
Shall we stand by silently while he remains ostracized? While the little birds mock him & laugh at his namelessness? If we can’t speak up for him, can we truly live with ourselves while we laugh along with the prestigious “named” birds & eat our popcorn? Let’s stand united & advocate for the unnamed & unseen. Let’s hope for a better tomorrow where the main characters have names.
Join me in asking Pixar to help him feel loved & included. This lovable character deserves the dignity of a name. While they’re at it, maybe they can lay down some plans for plush and figurines. And maybe a follow-up short of redemption. But at the very least, a name.
