The People’s Press Firewall Act - End Corrupt Backroom Deals Between Media and Politicians

The Issue

We, the people, demand a press that serves truth, not power.

It’s time to end the secret handshakes between journalists and politicians. No more private favors. No more off-the-record whispers. No more manipulated headlines designed to protect the powerful instead of inform the public.

That’s why we’re calling on Congress to introduce and pass The People’s Press Firewall Act. a necessary law that restores trust in journalism by strictly separating the press from political influence.

What The People’s Press Firewall Act Will Do:

•Ban all private contact between journalists and politicians. No texting, no dinner meetings, no “off the record” backroom deals.

•Require all government press events to include real-time, independent fact-checkers. If a lie is told, it’s corrected on the spot.

•Enforce non-collusion contracts. Journalists and politicians will sign legal agreements prohibiting personal or professional relationships.

•Create a bipartisan civilian oversight council to audit media and government interactions, remove violators from office and/or revoke press credentials.

•Protect whistleblowers in the press who report political coercion, manipulation, or misinformation.

Why This Matters: Right now, too many journalists fear losing access if they tell the truth. Too many politicians spin narratives knowing they won’t be challenged. This act ends that broken system.

We believe in: A press that holds power accountable, not protects it. A government that respects transparency, not hides behind spin. A democracy built on facts, not favors.

Sign the Petition. Demand Congress Pass the People’s Press Firewall Act.

The future of democracy depends on free, fearless, and uncorrupted journalism. This is how we get there. This is how we take it back.
