Good Morning Fellow Friends of the Tappan Zee,
2 years ago, I almost gave up hope of ever seeing a governor in NY who would be supportive of our mission to return the Tappan Zee name to our bridge. I admit, I was starting to lose ALL hope that the bridge would ever again see its rightful name.
Well, that could be changing before our very eyes with Lee Zeldin's rise in the polls to potentially become the new governor of New York.
While Save Our Tappan Zee does not officially endorse any particular party for any political race (and we are happy to share any statement by Gov. Hochul), it it should be clear to all that if Lee Zeldin wins, there is a higher likelihood that the many bi-partisan bills that would have returned the name of the bridge that did not pass over these last 4 years... might now pass.
Certainly, if you are a registered New Yorker, vote for whom you like, but when it comes to the return of the name of our bridge, just ask yourself: "Who of the two candidates is more likely to sign a bill to return the name of our bridge?"
Wishing you all well this autumn!
