The Union City skate park is in disrepair and was built by non skaters. Almost the whole park is un functional even for the best skaters. For instance there is a down rail that cannot be skated at all, And the vert ramp is so cramped that it is a safety hazard because the ramp is almost a 90 degree transition and only gives you 3-4 feet until the next ramp, and the ledges that are surrounding the park are much to big for the average skater to skate. The ramps at the skatepark are almost unusable because of the cheese grater constancy because of the use of cheap Bondo among the ramp that flakes and falls of. The part of the skate park that people skate the most is the back section is the rails and ledges  one of the rails are broken off the ground. If we rebuild the skate park it will be used more and much better because it will be designed by the skaters and not the city. If we do not rebuild the park less and less people will use it causing the city to close the skatepark. Lets make the union city skatepark functional so that more and more local skaters will not have to go to Fremont and the Newark skateparks anymore. And that so every skater even the ones just learning to the most advanced skaters can skate here so that the skate community can grow and grow in Union City.
