To the Australian Government and NDIS Leadership,

The NDIS was created to support Australians with disabilities, yet recent reforms are leaving thousands of families stranded, with no viable alternatives for their children’s essential care. These cuts are not a minor adjustment—they are a crisis.

Every week, over 1,200 families receive reassessment letters, forcing them to prove their child’s lifelong disability still exists—within impossible timeframes. More than 6,000 children under nine have already lost access to the NDIS in the last financial year, despite documented needs.

This isn’t about 'fraud' or 'sustainability.' It’s about stripping vital support from families who need it the most.

The Devastating Impact:
🚨 Autistic children and other disabilities are being cut off from therapies like speech pathology and occupational therapy—with no alternative in place.
🚨 Families are being redirected to state-run healthcare and school systems that are already overwhelmed and underfunded.
🚨 Many parents are forced to pay thousands out-of-pocket or go without care altogether.
🚨 Small providers—NDIS-funded businesses that support these children—are being forced to close, unable to survive the sudden loss of funding.

The Government Claims It’s Cracking Down on Fraud—But the Real Savings Come from Cutting Kids Off
The government says these reforms are about stopping fraud and 'cleaning up' the NDIS. But here’s the truth:
📌 A third of their planned savings are from kicking kids off the scheme—NOT from stopping fraud.
📌 There is no functional replacement for these children—Foundational Supports do not exist yet.
📌 This will cost the country more in the long run—children who don’t get early support will need more services as adults.

What We’re Demanding:
✅ An Immediate Stop to NDIS Reassessments until fair, transparent processes are in place.
✅ No Child Removed Until Foundational Supports Are Fully Implemented and accessible.
✅ A Clear Explanation for Every Funding Cut, with a realistic appeal process.
✅ Support for Schools & Healthcare Providers to handle the increased demand.
✅ A Seat at the Table for Disability Advocates & Families—policy changes should be based on real needs, not budget spreadsheets.
