Southerns fought in the war to defend their freedoms, their families, and their homes. Southerners did not fight to defend slavery.
Southerners today want to keep all monuments that honor our Confederate veterans. This fact should not come as a surprise to you and I and other like minded God fearing Southerners. Black and white, most of us pray to the same God, most of us want the same things in life, and most of us have a truly identifiable commonality of being Southern and being kind to our neighbors and being civil in our discussions.
What separates us are those politicians, those loud-mouthed activists, and yes, even some clergy who want to create discord, want us to hate one another, and want us to build walls that separate us.
We must be able to see through their agendas and come together as Southerners and reunify back to common faiths, common goals and to becoming a kinder and gentler people again.
