An overwhelming majority of Southerners from ALL demographics still want our monuments to remain on display. A recent poll out of Winthrop University reveals a vast amount of public support for our statues, icons, and historic landmarks. This study, completed at the end of 2018, comes from a respected university and a leader on statistics concerning Southern people, culture, and demographics.
Preservationists, monument supporters, and rationalists from all walks of life have and continue to oppose the radical removal of our history. These acts, committed by a highly motivated minority of professional activists, have not swayed public opinion in their favor despite the smears and a biased media narrative.
The question asked each respondent was framed as follows:
Should Confederate Monument remain on display?
The results show an astounding majority in favor of displaying our history. Interestingly, the rate of Black Southerners and both White Southerners supporting our monument preservation both exceed the 80th percentile.
This is a landslide victory in the battle for public opinion!
