Dear Neighbors and Supporters,
TODAY the County (not the City) is meeting on the trash issue. TODAY'S meeting is at 2pm at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center at 111 NW 1st Street Miami, FL 33128. You’ll have to go through security to the Chamber where the Commission meets. The meeting is for the Chairman’s Policy Committee to vote on a RESOLUTION that recommends to the entire 13 member County Commission to build a NEW FACILITY across from the current Covanta facility and STILL in the City of Doral. We need residents to attend and give public comment about their experiences with the odor and how it affects their lives and their families’ lives. The goal is to convince Chairman Jose "Pepe" Diaz to amend the RESOLUTION so that places/properties/sites OUTSIDE our city can be considered, studied, and assessed, as options for the new facility. Without this amendment, it could make it close to impossible for the new facility to be built anywhere else. Whether Covanta or ABC company manages the facility, it would still be located in Doral. We must pressure this Committee, chaired by OUR Commissioner, Jose "Pepe" Diaz, to amend the Resolution or delay a vote until Doral residents get PROPER NOTICE to appear and be heard. The only way we win is speaking and appearing in numbers. The Doral Community Coalition will be meeting in front of Doral City Hall TODAY at 12:45. The meeting is at 2pm. We will have a bus for those who need transportation. Others will be driving their cars. I urge all your neighbors impacted by this problem to join us. I hope and pray we have a STRONG turnout TODAY.

Queridos vecinos y simpatizantes,
HOY el condado (no la ciudad) se reunirá para tratar el tema de la basura. La reunión de HOY es a las 2:00 p. m. en el Centro de Gobierno Stephen P. Clark en 111 NW 1st Street Miami, FL 33128. Deberá pasar por seguridad hasta la Cámara donde se reúne la Comisión. La reunión es para que el Comité de Políticas del Presidente vote sobre una RESOLUCIÓN que recomienda a los 13 miembros de la Comisión del Condado construir una NUEVA INSTALACIÓN frente a la instalación actual de Covanta y TODAVÍA en la Ciudad de Doral. Necesitamos que los residentes asistan y brinden comentarios públicos sobre sus experiencias con el olor y cómo afecta sus vidas y las de sus familias. El objetivo es convencer al presidente de la Camara del condado, José Pepe Díaz, de enmendar la RESOLUCIÓN para que los lugares/propiedades/sitios FUERA de nuestra ciudad puedan ser considerados, estudiados y evaluados como opciones para la nueva instalación. Sin esta enmienda, podría ser casi imposible que la nueva instalación se construya en otro lugar. Ya sea que la empresa Covanta o ABC administre la instalación, aún estaría ubicada en Doral. Debemos presionar a este Comité, presidido por NUESTRO Comisionado, José "Pepe Díaz", para enmendar la Resolución o retrasar una votación hasta que los residentes de Doral reciban el AVISO ADECUADO para comparecer y ser escuchados. La única manera de ganar es hablando y apareciendo en números. La Coalición Comunitaria de Doral se reunirá frente al Ayuntamiento de Doral HOY a las 12:45. La reunión es a las 14 hs. Tendremos un autobús para aquellos que necesitan transporte. Otros conducirán sus autos. Insto a todos sus vecinos afectados por este problema a unirse a nosotros. Espero y rezo para que HOY tengamos una FUERTE participación.
