Save Nemo the Library Fish and Keep Him at the Domonkas Library!

The Issue

The Domonkas Library in Sheffield Lake is not only home to one of the most beautiful views in the state of Ohio, but it has also been home for seven years of the library goldfish, Nemo. After the former branch manager and administration gave their blessing, the library staff purchased goldfish for summer reading in 2014, which all died within a week. Nemo was a former staff member’s fancy tailed goldfish, and they gladly gave him to the library so other people could enjoy him and take care of him.

The staff recently received word that the current library manager and library administration want him gone by the holiday season, due to an accidental flushing of aquarium gravel in the library sink, which has since been rectified with a purchased strainer. Nemo is now an elderly fish, who was traumatized by the transport of going to another staff member’s home during the emergency closing of the library in 2020 during the pandemic. He became very sick and it took months and expensive medication to get him healthy and thriving where he is today. Another transport to another home and adjustment period would most likely kill him and not allow people of all ages in Sheffield Lake to enjoy him at the library.

Please sign this petition to ask the current library branch manager and Lorain Public Library CEO and COO to change their mind and keep Nemo where he belongs, at the library!
