Renovate Hartford’s XL Center for 150-250 million

Renovate Hartford’s XL Center for 150-250 million
The Issue
In 1997 the City of Hartford lost a major part of itself. The people of Connecticut lost a major part of themselves. The Hartford Whalers moved away. Leaving their near 15,000 seat XL Center to minor league teams and the University of Connecticut.
The CRDA has appointed the statement that the XL Center and The City of Hartford need the XL Center to be majorly renovated. To make it significant, and to make the arena NHL ready, a renovation of $200-250 million.
Not only is this needed for a return of The National Hockey League, but for the UConn Basketball program. This July, the University if Connecticut athletics department announced that they will become a member of the Big East conference. This move will put the team on a national scale of attention. We do not want to be on such a scale with a trash arena like the XL Center we have now.
Our City needs this. Our state needs this. Not only would this upgrade allow the XL Center to be NHL ready and presentable for the NCAA, but would make it among the most state-of-the-art venues in North America.
What a renovated XL Center would need:
-Full demolition to the skin of the stadium.
-16,000+ capacity for Ice Hockey Setup
-VIP and suite seating closer to ice level.
-Larger and Modernized Concourse
-Second Concourse level
-Complete revamp of locker rooms and training facilities
-New lobby/Atrium
-New upper bowl format in order to add about 1,000 seats and to allow better views of the playing surface.
-New Color scheme. Blue and gray is very unappreciated by the human eye and makes the arena feel more empty and cold.
-Larger parking garage/more parking options
-More appealing view of the Center. (Possibly glass that allows people to see some of the lobby and concourse
-Statue of a Hartford/Connecticut sports Hero as a way to recognize the building (Boston has Bobby Orr, Chicago has Michael Jordan.
-Unique things for visitors to see
-Branding shown throughout the arena.
-Miniature museum in the concourse
-Better facilities for media
-Anything else requested by the NHL or Connecticut
When this reaches 500k (1/2 the size if the greater Hartford Area) signatures, I will present it to the state if Connecticut. LETS BEING BACK THE WHALERS!
