The Issue

We are Minutes Away from Losing a Species Forever..

Only two Northern White Rhinos remain on Earth—Najin and Fatu. Both are female. Without our immediate intervention, we are witnessing the permanent end of a lineage that has walked this planet for millions of years.

What is the BioRescue Project?

The BioRescue Project is an international consortium of world-leading scientists, veterinarians, and conservationists dedicated to one "impossible" mission: bringing the Northern White Rhino back from the brink of extinction.

Because there are no males left to breed naturally, BioRescue uses cutting-edge Assisted Reproduction Technologies (ART). Their work involves:

  • IVF & Embryo Creation: Harvesting eggs from the last two females and fertilizing them with preserved sperm from deceased males.
  • Stem Cell Research: Transforming skin cells into eggs and sperm to ensure genetic diversity.
  • Surrogacy: Transferring these embryos into Southern White Rhino surrogates to carry the next generation of Northern White Rhinos.

This isn't just science; it’s a global rescue mission funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and supported by partners like the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (Leibniz-IZW) and Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

A History Written in Loss

Once, Northern White Rhinos roamed freely across East and Central Africa. However, decades of civil unrest, habitat loss, and most devastatingly—rampant poaching for their horns decimated their numbers. By 2008, they were declared extinct in the wild.

In 2018, the world mourned the death of Sudan, the very last male Northern White Rhino. His passing left Najin and Fatu as the sole guardians of their kind. They are "functionally extinct," meaning they cannot recover without human help. Saving them isn't just about one species—it's about restoring a keystone species that maintains the balance of the entire African ecosystem.

How You Can Help (Even with just $5 or €5)

The technology to save this species exists, but it is incredibly expensive to execute. Every egg harvest, every laboratory procedure, and the 24/7 armed protection for Najin and Fatu requires funding.

Your contribution—even just 5 dollars or 5 euros—can make a massive difference. * It helps pay for the specialized veterinary care these two females need.

  • It funds the transport of precious embryos to specialized labs.
  • It ensures the guards at Ol Pejeta can keep the last of their kind safe from poachers.

Who Am I?

I want to be clear: I am not a member of the BioRescue team or project. I am simply a human being who refuses to watch a species disappear in silence. I am starting this petition because I care, and I believe we owe it to these animals to fix what human activity has broken.

100% of your donations will go directly to the official project. I have provided their official secure links below so you can donate with total confidence that your money is going straight to the scientists and rhinos who need it.
