The Kindness Pledge. (abbreviated in the above), was created to help children and adults everywhere join together with one great purpose, to make a better world for all of us. We can all commit to this regardless of our differences.

My children's stories about the The Zorzles and their Kind, Kind Ways are part of this for a global movement embracing empathy and kindness rather than cruelty and control.

Let's make the world a better place for all of us.

PREAMBLE

We recognise that the worst troubles in our world have come into being because some seek power and control over the lives of others and don't care about the effects. They don’t care about others, or the value of simple kindness to build happy and secure communities.

Fortunately, not everyone acts unkindly, but enough do to cause harm.

Kind people care about the poor, the homeless, and those living with disabilities. They know that life is tough for some people not because of anything they have done but through circumstances outside of their control

So we state our aim to be kind.

THE PLEDGE

We Value Kindness

We believe that kindness is important in ourselves and others.

We Seek to Be Kind to Ourselves

We know that you can’t be kind to others if you don’t look after yourself.

We Know that Safety is Protected with Kindness

As we can we will protect ourselves and others from all unkind acts - this includes protection from bullies and spoken or physical abuse.

We Live our Lives by The Golden Rule

We will treat everyone with respect, patience, and understanding, even when it’s hard.

We Recognize Kindness in Others

We celebrate acts of kindness and appreciate the good we see in those around us, because kindness inspires more kindness.

Together, with this agreement, we can create a kinder, happier world!

As a sign this I will share with others who value kindness too.

Secretary-General António Guterres is the "decision-maker" for this petition. Not that he can suddenly make the world kind, but as he states: "We want the world our children inherit to be defined by the values enshrined in the UN Charter: peace, justice, respect, human rights, tolerance and solidarity."

In our small worlds it is our children and we ourselves who are the real decision makers who can make a difference by choosing kindness.
