The K-pop industry has to stop promoting the cult of thinness and eating disorders.

El problema

When K-pop was still a niche music genre, idols maintained relatively healthy lifestyles.

Today, as the industry grows into a global phenomenon, the pressure on artists to be dangerously thin has reached alarming levels , and it is time to call it out.

You just have to look at TripleS' Chaewon, suffering from CRYSTAL-CLEAR anorexia, saying to her fans she has "never been this healthy in her whole life" to realise how fucked up this whole situation is getting. (No hate to Chaewon thought. I DON'T blame her or any of the other artists for anything. They are part of a whole toxic ecosystem.)

Companies force artists to eat a ridiculous amount of food. But many fans also are part of the problem : some mock artists and comment on their looks, ALL THE TIME. Idols do see these comments and it can harm their own body image.

The pressure to be thin as paper exists even in the trainee period : trainees often have to participate in a "weekly weigh-in". This is a way for companies to ensure their trainees will not exceed a given weight.

The harm doesn't stop with the idols.

Fans who see idols as role models are pushed to think being skinny is healthy and normal. That not having a flat belly and chopstick legs is unnacceptable.

By signing, you are saying:

We see what is happening.
We refuse to normalize it.
We demand better — for the idols, and for us, the fans who look up to them.

By signing this, you are helping poiting out the issue, and making our voices heard by the companies, and the idols. We have to let them know we are NOT going to let the companies continue this modern slavery.

We need to help our idols. We can't let them being treated like they're some machines without feelings. They are going through so much and it feels like no one gives a damn.
