J Thornsberry should NEVER Own Animals, Require Home Inspections, & Reimburse for Expenses

The Issue

TO:      The Honorable Victoria Meadows, Mason County District Court Judge

Please do not honor the request of Judy Thornsberry, her attorney, her counselor, her friends, or anyone associated with her that would permit Ms. Thornsberry the ability to own one, single animal.

Please execute an order of a lifetime ban from ever owning another animal.

Ms. Thornsberry has a longtime history of hoarding objects and animals as well as being a puppy mill breeder. Not only did she, her family, and all the hoarded animals live in deplorable conditions at her home in Belfair, WA the conditions reportedly were the same at her Westport, WA home where there was a fire that killed many of the animals, as well as her Brewster, WA home. You can validate the conditions by communicating with the rescue organizations that assisted in Grays Harbor County or the persons that bought her former Brewster home. It has been reported that the Coroner’s Office even noted the conditions inside the home when Judy's daughter passed away. It is reported that Ms. Thornsberry had tried to prevent the Coroner from coming into the house and placed her deceased daughter in a wheelchair and placed her outside of the house.

Ms. Thornsberry's noted history of living in disgusting, deplorable conditions and subjecting her numerous animals to live in this filth is disgusting in itself. Her 'precious family' that had no choice were so caked and matted with urine and feces, one could not identify the breed or sex of many.  Ms. Thornsberry also subjected her sick husband (deceased) to live in these toxic conditions. They all were living among the dead having to walk by dead dogs just openly laying on the floor. Reportedly, many of her animals had untimely deaths because she did not give them proper care and medication, let alone permit them to regularly see a veterinarian.

Please order that she pay restitution to all of the individuals and organizations that took care of or adopted the 40+ living dogs, birds, and cats.

When her animals were rescued last February, they had untreated open wounds, oral infections, eye infections, ear infections, dry eye, worms, and were just unhealthy and sickly.   Eyes and numerous teeth were removed and months of medications to clear all the infections and worms were necessary as well as spaying and neutering.  All of this care of her so-called “family” has cost many thousands of dollars.

Please order the Sheriff’s Office to make unscheduled, monthly home inspections to ensure compliance.

After your order in August, 2015 that Ms. Thornsberry is prohibited from having any animals in her possession, it was reported that she still had her Pekingese and Shih Tzu that the Sheriff’s Office had permitted to keep prior to the charges.  It was also reported that she had two sick, infant LabraDoodles that she was taking care of for friend\neighbor\breeder. Ms. Thornsberry also mentioned that she had two adult dogs for protection. It was also reported by a known, reputable breeder, that she was seeking to buy more Pekingese in addition to looking for a Rottweiler. This all occurred AFTER you ordered her to not have any animals.

These are only a few reasons, I respectfully request you deny Ms. Thornsberry’s request now and any more that she may have in the future.

Thank you for your consideration.
