Change legislation in Domestic Violence court proceedings

The issue

Victims of domestic violence may have the Police Prosecutor as their 'defense lawyer' in court hearings and matters. But many perpetrators attend court unrepresented and the woman and children are faced with the torment of being directly cross-examined by an alleged perpetrator of violence. This has the effect of continuing the violence through a court sanctioned process. This legal 'privilege' seems like a benefit and immunity for the perpetrator, as he perceives he can 'rightfully' continue the control, intimidation and instil fear in the victim. THIS LEGISLATION NEEDS TO BE NOT ONLY CHANGED, BUT ABOLISHED COMPLETELY from the NSW legal system. I urge you please to show your agreement and unison and hold a stance on this imperative topic. All feedback and comments will be part of a submission to members of Parliament and relevant Government bodies.
