Hello friends!
Happy Sunday and thank you once again for your time and energy supporting us to date. There are almost 2000 of you, which is a stunning result!
That means 1000 people a week are telling us - and decision-makers at the Federal and Tasmanian State Governments - that they want the Aurora Australis kept and shared with all Australians.
The Aurora Australis Foundation is hoping to make some big steps forward this week. The results of a formal heritage assessment should be available any day now. And we are working on a collaboration with another organisation which also aims to keep the AA in Australia and keep her working for the nation. We hope to make more announcements in coming days.
However the AAF continues to be on tenterhooks about the fate of the ship. We still don't know if she will be sold and will suddenly pick up and leave Australia any day now, likely gone forever.
Despite the uncertainty the AAF will continue to work hard to keep the Aurora Australis, and all her adventures and stories, in Hobart where she belongs.
