LABOR PARTY COMMITMENT

"55.  Labor recognises the growing body of research showing the positive impact a quality music education has on children’s learning and development. Labor will support teachers to extend their music education training with the ultimate goal that every Australian primary school student receives a quality music education. Labor recognises the important role other performing and creative arts play in developing a young person’s creativity, increasing student engagement and creating a positive school environment."

At first glance, both parties are demonstrating a commitment to an improvement to an Australia wide Music Education strategy.  Another win in the long road since the 2005 National Review of School Music Education; Augmenting The Diminished: https://researchrepository.murdoch.edu.au/id/eprint/9459/1/music_review_reportFINAL.pdf

We must press on until quality options for Music education specialist preservice training is offered by major tertiary institutions.
