Hello to 1600 signatories! Thank you for your support.
Again please don’t believe what the Herts Ad tells you today - you do still have time to object to the Woollam Park development. Send your objection to
email: planningcomments@stalbans.gov.uk
If you are not sure how to complain, here are the four major issues on which this development should fail.
flooding
green belt
heartwood
highways
In yesterday’s update we wrote about the lack of safe travel routes for cyclists (which the developers legally MUST put in place ) and I shared the video of the routes which we filmed.
Today we focus on Heartwood Forest
One of the signatories, Tony, wrote, ‘I live close to the area and regulary visit Heartwood forest. The roads are far too busy for the city to cope with as it is and schools overburdened with pupils on "other" new estates in St albans. The city simply cannot take much more development.’
The greenbelt is a natural corridor for wildlife to Heartwood. Concrete over that corridor with 1100 homes and this will happen:-
• Animals will no longer move safely between habitats, leading to isolation and reduced biodiversity.
• Biodiversity will decline: there will be fewer pollinators and seed dispersers, more invasive species, and increased human disturbance.
• More disrupted water systems: More flooding, polluted runoff, and less groundwater for trees.
• Increased heat, reduced carbon capture, and lower resilience to extreme weather.
• Loss of value: The woodland becomes isolated, less effective ecologically, and less accessible for people and wildlife.
Your objection might look something like this:-
’Objection to Application 5/2024/2271 Woollam Park’
I object to the Woollam Park development on the grounds that the biodiversity of Heartwood Forest will be irrevocably damaged.
Add your name and that’s it!
Please email your objection based on one of those four issues as soon as you can to: planningcomments@stalbans.gov.uk
thank you,
Damian
