Dismiss the charges against the MALOA members
The Issue
I lived in Pujehun District for 2 years. I want to do anything that I can to help protect the human rights of everyone living in Pujehun District. Please help me get the charges dropped against members of MALOA (Malen Land Owners and Users Assoication) who were protesting the abuse from SOCFIN. A judge will give his verdict on this Thursday, February 4th, 2016!
Land grabbing is an issue in many places including Sierra Leone. One of the best understood land grabbing cases in Sierra Leone is the SOCFIN land grab in Malen Chiefdom/ Pujehun District. The massive human rights violations linked to the SOCFIN landgrab in Malen are well documented. According to the World Organization Against Torture there are in addition clear signs of ongoing juridical harassment of MALOA members (http://www.omct.org/human-rights-defenders/urgent-interventions/sierra-leone/2015/11/d23454/
In order to defend their interests and rights, some years ago the Malen Land Owners and Users Association (MALOA) was established, whose work has gained wide –even international- recognition. To break the resistance of the local population affected by the SOCFIN landgrab, leaders as well as ordinary MALOA members have been repeatedly subjected to different forms of intimidation. It’s important that the juridical harassment against people, who are mainly engaged in defending their basic human right end immediately!
Please sign to help Ms. Amie Faba, Messrs. Idrisa Fatorma, Mohamed Kebbie, Abu Kebbie, Morie Margai, Luseni Tommy, Momoh Karimu, Shiaka Sama, Sima Mattia, James Blango, Lahai Sellu, Musa Sellu, Foday Musa and Sylvester Kebbie!
