Petition updateTHE CONN ACTOn exactly the one-year anniversary of my father’s passing, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs

On September 17, 2025—the day we marked one year without mf Father, Sgt. Richard Andrew Conn—the House passed a package of 14 veterans’ bills to expand healthcare access, modernize benefits outreach, safeguard VA supply chains, and protect service members’ homes.

These new laws include measures to:   modernize claims processing and outreach, improve rural access to benefits, protect telemedicine services, and strengthen women veterans’ cancer care coordination.

While these 14 bills are important victories, there is still so much work ahead.

My father’s story—and the Conn Act reform proposal I’ve been fighting for—aims to close the gaps that still hurt veterans and their families:

🔹 One national VA charting system to end record fragmentation.

🔹 Stronger community care coordination so outside providers can seamlessly share records.

🔹 MOS-based toxic exposure screening to catch long-term health risks early.

🔹 FTCA reform so families can access justice when VA care fails.

Last week’s action by Congress proves change is possible.

Let’s build on this momentum to make sure no veteran family ever has to fight the battles my dad and I fought alone.
