VA Layoffs Won’t Fix the System — Reform Will.

As news spreads about potential cuts to the VA under future leadership, I want to be clear: laying off staff isn’t the solution. Veterans like my father, Sgt. Richard Andrew Conn, died because of broken systems — not because of overstaffing.

We need smarter charting, better coordination, exposure screening, referral reform — not fewer employees trying to hold it all together. The fallout of more burnout and turnover will only make this crisis worse.
