My name is Jason, and I'm part of the Civic Engagement Team at Change.org. Our mission is to connect petition supporters with decision makers and to help foster healthy civic engagement in our communities.

We're excited to share a significant update: this petition has achieved its goal. On February 24, the Northside ISD board of trustees met to discuss the potential renaming of Colonies North Elementary — and decided they would not take any further action on the proposal.

The decision came after an outpouring of community feedback. District officials received 617 survey responses, with 512 respondents opposing the name change and only 72 in favor. District 7 trustee Karen Freeman stated that the decision reflects NISD's community-focused values, noting that residents deeply identify with their neighborhood school.

This outcome is a direct reflection of what happens when a community speaks up together. Thank you to everyone who signed, shared, and made their voices heard. Colonies North Elementary will remain Colonies North Elementary — because you showed up.
