We've filed a NEW LAWSUIT against Gov. Pritzker on behalf of our kids
Important news! Our lawyers have filed a second lawsuit against Gov. Pritzker - this one to help our high school students who are suffering - and dying - under Gov. Pritzker's DISCRIMINATORY COVID-19 laws.
Remember America Action, a non-profit legal defense foundation has filed a lawsuit against Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois High School Association on behalf of the family of Trevor Till, who committed suicide in late October, and other high school student-athletes who have suffered severe emotional and physical harm due to the state's discriminatory COVID-19 restrictions.
"Trevor Till was an athlete, a talented musician, the star of his school's play, "The Music Man," president of his class at Seneca High School in Illinois - and so much more," says Remember America Action's senior counsel. "This is the Till Family's first Christmas without Trevor and it isn't right. His death was an unnecessary tragedy and Gov. Pritzker's COVID-19 restrictions are to blame."
The complaint filed by Remember America Action alleges that Gov. Pritzker and the Illinois High School Association's canceling of high school fall and winter sports while permitting professional sports and college sports to play violates Illinois' equal protection laws which require a "rational basis" for special legislative treatment. The plaintiffs in the filed case represent thousands of students who, as a result of the state's COVID-19 restrictions, have developed anxiety disorders; female athletes who have developed bulimia; other students have been hospitalized for mental and emotional breakdowns, and are battling depression and thousands of rural, minority and low-income students have lost the opportunity for college scholarship because they weren't scouted for football, basketball, hockey, and other sports.
"The people of Illinois must hold public officials like Gov. Pritzker for the terrible harm they've caused through these discriminatory COVID-19 laws that favor powerful elites over our kids," a lawyer for Remember America Action said.
