Madison defies Pritzker, Gov. Pritzker rejects any change to reopen plan

Despite angry calls from local and regional political leaders statewide, Gov. Pritzker says his destructive plan to reopen Illinois over a 9-15 month period will stay as-is. That means that Northeastern Illinois counties that have been lumped in with Chicago and Cook County are set to REOPEN last. These counties include DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kankakee, McHenry, Lake, and Kendall Counties. These counties will not survive Gov. Pritzker's plan. 

But not all Illinois counties, businesses, and citizens are going quietly to their premature deaths. 22 hours ago, Downstate Madison County reopened its businesses defying Pritzker's stay-at-home order. Madison County has OK'd a resolution outlining a plan to reopen despite the Governor's orders, effective Wednesday. Their resolution declared all businesses and churches essential. The four-phase plan allows restaurants, bars, salons, daycares, and gyms to reopen at 25% capacity.

Pritzker lashed out at Madison officials saying that there WILL BE CONSEQUENCES for local governments who defy the state's order. 

Madison officials say they're trying to work in a common-sense way and are not being rebellious. 

Folks, the fight for common sense and decency is just beginning. It is not going to be an easy fight when there is so much at stake. After running Illinois into the ground for decades, there is only one solution for our political leaders: a multi-billion dollar bailout from the federal government at the expense of businesses and workers across Illinois. We are collateral damage to them - and that's it - the way our leaders have addressed this crisis is proof they cannot be trusted with our present or our future.
