Do you agree with our Mayor's Opinion in the Edmonton Journal?
Amarjeet Sohi has an op-ed this morning in support of the budget. He defends the increase of 5%.
In December I launched a petition here: https://www.change.org/Recall-YEG-budget Over 1700 people have signed. 26,000 have viewed the petition.
There is only a slim chance they will reopen the budget as the petition demands.
But the message needs to get through loud and clear:
We expect better performance from our Councillors. The experienced ones are fine, indeed excellent. But the first term councillors are simply not performing well.
Read the Mayor's comments at the link. Let all of us on NextDoor know what you think. Sign the petition if you agree. When we reach 2500 I will take the petition forward to Council.
I need help to promote the petition. If you feel strongly could you reach out to friends who are on NextDoor in other corners of the city by email. Ask them to post about the petition on their NextDoor account. My west-end posts don't get anywhere but to the local neighbourhoods in the west end. Thanks!!
