As student athletes in Connecticut, we would like to formally ask the CIAC and the DPH to allow us students to have 11 on 11 football this fall. Connecticut has some of the best covid statistics in the entire nation, yet we are not joining the other 35 states who have decided it is safe enough to play high school football this fall. This is pathetic of the DPH to decide that it is unsafe to play even though the positive test rate of covid in connecticut has been lingering under 1% for the past several MONTHS. Furthermore, shame on the CIAC for not acting as they should and giving us athletes assurance. Instead, we have found ourselves sitting silent in the midst of both indecisive and inconsistent announcements from the CIAC. This has been, for lack of a better word, a living hell for us student athletes. And finally when football is confirmed and everything seems fluid, we are once again stripped of our oppurtunity to play. Please, to the CIAC and Governor Lamont, all we ask as a united collective voice is to allow us to do what we love with the rest of our peers accross the state playing their sports. Connecticut football has in place procedures that will make football safe too play. Thank you.
