Yves Engler writes: The Jewish Defence League and B’nai Brith are boasting that they convinced the Trinity-St. Paul Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts to cancel a room booking “to celebrate the artistic and cultural contributions of Palestinians in the diaspora.” The Toronto United Church had agreed to provide space to the Palestinian Youth Movement for “an evening of spoken word, music and food” to “showcase the winners of the Ghassan Kanafani Resistance Arts Scholarship.” See more
The Palestinian Youth Movement responded when they learned third -hand that that Trinity St.-Paul’s United Church in Toronto caved to a smear and harassment campaign initiated by a Zionist organization and opted to cancel. See more
The United Church of Canada (UCC) often seen as the most proactive in regard to Palestine only responded to the 2009 Palestinian Kairos Call at the UCC 41st General Council in 2012 with a resolution that included "maintain the demographic integrity of Israel." No divestment by any bocy of the UCC has occurred following the 2012 resolution, or subsequent 2015 resolution. No response has been made by the UCC or any other Canadian Christian leadership in regard to Palestinian 50 year of occupation call in 2017.
Info related to Global Church Action on Palestine is included on UCC website.
