<<! IMPORTANT !>> This was brought to my attention on one of the Social Media venues I shared this petition. I felt it pertinent to the cause so I am posting this update so you all, including Gov. Cooper, can more clearly understand the gist of what we are fighting for.

The "Phase Three" Stimulus Package, if passed, will provide residents AND Landlords with $1000+ to pay their bills with nationwide.

Landlords (aka: 'Homeowners', who'd receive mortgage relief requested in this petition) will have relief AND protection, and will simply have to cut down on their expenses JUST like the rest of us. So...

I fail to see any reason for this to NOT be written for OUR STATE and be declared to PROTECT  N.Carolinians, unless the whole stimulus package and "lets assist our citizens" brouhaha is them PRETENDING to protect cirizens who are middle class and below, with carefully worded documents and public addresses, while the underlying truth is local and Federal Government people are doing otherwise.

The exchange which brought this clarification forth:

  • [My friend] : "Then you'll just have a double or triple payment due when it's over. That might be worse! The government can't compel business owners to give their products for free. The landlord is considered a business owner and the apartment or house is what he's selling.. Not charging everyone for a month to three months would put a lot of these owners in financial peril, and if people work there they might lose their jobs. No way the govt is going to do that. That is why they are sending everyone $1000 in April and again in May, so people can pay their rent..."
  • [My response] : "

It can be written that theres NO penalty(s) when the State Of Emergency is over.

If Trump can declare suspension of mortgages and evictions, then renters who have lost their jobs can be protected FROM evictions when it is over by Official suspension of rent....
because the eviction/mortgage  protection Trump declared wont stop Landlords from filing against those who lost their jobs or had their hours cut who BECAME unable to pay their rent/mortgage, AFTER his declaration.

This would protect those who beCAME unable. ie: Landlords cant go for current OR back rent, or evict those who cant pay-up currently or after the State Of Emergency is lifted.  "
