Scottish Health Award and latest update

We have recently heard that Shona Robison Cabinet Secretary for Health has stated that she will make her decision regarding the centralisation of the Cleft service in Scotland before the end of the year. There isn’t much more we can do at this stage but wait for the announcement. We have made it very clear that we believe the two sites should remain and I hope we have done enough to convince her that this is the correct way forward for the cleft service. I had promised to add a video of the children involved in our campaign but unfortunately, the person producing the video has had some problems finishing it so it will be delayed but I will add it as soon as possible. In the meantime, I am delighted to announce that Órla Duncan was nominated for 2 awards at the Daily Record Scottish Health Awards - Unsung Hero and Nurse of the year. Órla was a finalist in both categories and won the Unsung Hero Award. Our congratulations and best wishes go to Órla a truly incredible nurse and a great asset to the Lothian Cleft team and the Sick Kids Psychology department. Kind Regards, Evonne McLatchie
