Our family has shaped this country from its infancy. Over 100 years ago our family entrusted some of our sacred documents and artifacts to the Peabody Essex Museum under the agreement that they would stay in Salem and be accessible to the public. A couple of years ago the PEM decided to break this agreement by moving the Phillips Library to Rowley.  We donated these items so they could enrich the lives of generations to come. Now they are in storage where they are very difficult to access. In the interest of honoring our ancestors' intentions will you and your friends please sign this petition and join us in asking them to honor their promise to our ancestors and return “The Buffum Papers and Artifacts” to their rightful place and to be accessible in Salem or return them to our family and we can make them accessible to those who are curious about our ancestors and wish to hear their voices.
