Earlier this year the BBC announced it was to axe Atlantis - the best family drama in many, many years - after its second series. So we never got to join Jason and his friends on their quest for the Golden Fleece. The reason the series wouldn't be back was due to budgetary reasons, we were told. The BBC simply couldn't afford to continue. And yet, a few months ago they announced they would be making a new (at least, 8 part) drama about the siege of Troy... at a cost of £2 million an episode! And even worse... it would be shown post watershed. So... not only does the reason for cancelling Atlantis no longer ring true, but they can't even replace it with a family drama. No wonder the Corporation is in dire straits. We urge the BBC to restore Atlantis to its rightful position. Bring it back for a third, and possibly final, season. But let its fans say goodbye to the characters in a proper and fitting manner. Give Atlantis a third series. TV is just not the same without it.
