Letter to Premier David Burt
As you know we won our 3rd legal victory for Same Sex Marriage at the Bermuda Court of Appeal. The 3 man panel led by Sir Scott Baker upheld that previous Supreme Court ruling by Bermuda's Chief Justice Dr. Ian Kawaley that the Bermuda Government had violated the Bermuda Constitution by passing legislation (Domestic Partnerships) that reversed the rights of same-sex couples to marry, couching it in "similar but not equal to" language giving gay couples rights, but NOT the right of marriage.
LETTER
The Bermuda Government has vowed to continue the legal fight to the Privy Council.
I would urge all our supporters to write to the Premier and express your dismay at this continued attack on equality coupled with the ongoing negative press that Bermuda is receiving on this matter that is surely harming tourism with the possibility of some businesses avoiding Bermuda because of the current government stance on Same Sex Marriage. We urge the Premier to accept the ruling of the Court of Appeal and spare any further harm to the LGBTQ community, the taxpayers and businesses of Bermuda.
Here are three letters to the editor of Bermuda's Royal Gazette newspaper.
