We’ve been deeply moved by the global support for this petition, with citizens from the UK, Israel, America, Australia, South Africa, Germany, France and Canada, advocating for immediate change by the BBC.

We were also delighted that the Campaign Against Antisemitism reached out to join forces following the launch of the petition.

A spokesperson for Campaign Against Antisemitism said: “Images and videos of the unspeakably brutal attacks on Israeli civilians, including babies, children and the elderly have been shared around the world. The BBC cannot be the trusted public broadcaster that we need if it is unable to call the murder of hundreds of innocent Jewish people by an antisemitic genocidal terror organisation ‘terrorism’. Calling this by any other name is unfathomable and only fuels anti-Jewish extremists and apologists for terrorism.”

For us to enact change we must demand it. The BBC is on the wrong side of history and we ask them to act NOW as they continue to add their voices to the narrative. History deserves the undeniable documentation - that Hamas inflicted terror intentionally undeniably earning the title of ‘terrorist’.

We look forward to working alongside Campaign Against Antisemitism and other leaders or organisations who feel that words matter, and that the BBC needs to reevaluate its stance on the word ‘terrorist’.
