We (kinship carers) Australia wide have been fighting for the past 30+ years for the children we care for. The government and most of the media have turned a blind eye to our issues, our struggles and those of the kids we care for. We are devastated that it has come to this (the Coonabarabran tragedy) to have our fight heard. If indeed it has been heard! This was not an if it will happen, but when it will happen moment. With the lack of support, the surveillance, and the vilification of those who have done nothing wrong, indeed nothing more than step up to care for Australia's most vulnerable children, we are not the perpetrators, we are the victims, of an archaic system which under values the lives of the children we care for. Too much pressure from Child Protection, from NGO's to dance to their tune! The broken system needs to change!
