The FCAV is pleased to present the findings from the 2024 carer census. Thank you to every member who took the time to participate by completing the survey.
Over 750 respondents participated in the census. This excellent response rate allows us to better understand and advocate to address the unique challenges and requirements of foster carers in Victoria.
Carers social and economic participation is high with 60% having obtained a bachelor or post-graduate degree. The majority of carers are employed and earning over $60k pa with 1 in 3 earning over $120k pa. Respondents who found the low care allowance to be the most challenging aspect of their caring role was evenly spread across gross income ranges indicating that carer’s own household budget is not predictive of funding issues.
