Grandparent/Kinship carers Australia
On the 31st of May this year when the Australian Senate sits in Canberra, Grandparent & Kinship carers across Australia are urged to send a Purple –for carers- & Yellow – for kinkids- flower to be delivered to the steps of Parliament house.
We are NOT Foster carers. We did not plan, nor prepare for months or years in advance to foster a child at risk of harm. We ARE family who has stepped up, during crisis, to provide an environment for a child to flourish in, to feel love and to be nurtured to reach their maximum potential in life.
The Australian Government published a review of the issues Kinship carers and children in care faced in 2010.

Eight years on, more studies and more money wasted proving what has been known for decades and nothing has changed.
Enough!
We will no longer be the silent majority of carers of vulnerable children in Australia.
We are the voice of these children, we have their best interests as our priority, and we deserve to be respected and acknowledged and financially supported, as we are part of the solution.
Let’s make the 31st of May unofficially “Kinship Carers Day” and show the government that we are here, we will not be silenced, and we are united in our fight to save the next generation from bureaucratic incompetence and apathy.
Thank you and stay strong, together we can make a difference.
