Selassie Stand Up Press Release Selassie Stand Up, Inc. has submitted thank you letters today which marks the 125th anniversary of Emperor Haile Selassie's birthday to the President of Ghana, Chairman of the African Union Commission and Chairperson of the African Union for the AU responding to Selassie Stand Up's call for action to build a statue of HIM Emperor Haile Selassie for the Emperor's foresight, visionary leadership and distinguished role in establishing the then Organization of African Unity (OAU) in 1963, now known as the African Union (AU), and for the Emperor's formative and leading role in providing financial, military, strategic and logistical support to African brothers and sisters in the quest to freedom and independence. Selassie Stand Up has been advocating to build and erect a statue of HIM Emperor Haile Selassie within the compounds of the AU since 2013.Selassie Stand Up launched this initiative on the basis of the Emperor's tangible contributions and objective facts of history. If it were not for the Emperor's unwavering beliefs in the unity and territorial integrity, not only of Ethiopia, but of all of Africa, establishing the OAU/AU would not have been possible.
