Residents Are Living In Fear Of Landslides!

We have had a couple of meetings with residents of various areas nearby, particularly Melawati, some been staying in the area more than 20-30 years and they have seen developments after developments being approved, built and more and more greeneries being sacrificed, even on slopes and next to the Klang River that runs through the housing area.
Development proposals are being sneaked through without public consultations while application signboards placed in bushes and corners far from public eyes with short and limited timeframe for public to react. Emails and letters to the town planner were ignored.
What used to be a peaceful and serene community is quickly turning into a concrete jungle and multiple promises of retaining green lungs as well as allocation of public parks were either forgotten or ignored.
We need to stop this now, this piece of land in the photo is already being cleared and developer have started piling works. Trees are gone. Birds, monkeys and other flora and fauna destroyed. And the Klang River barely metres parallel to the site is at risk of being permanently polluted.
We need to stand united, for our children, for our future. Quote from one of our supporters:-
"We owe it to ourselves and to the next generation to conserve the environment so that we can bequeath our children a sustainable world that benefits all." Wangari Maathai
