This year, we want every MP in the UK to face their constituents and discuss reforming our broken voting system. Loads of supporters have already met theirs - and many more have contacted theirs to get an appointment. It's working: some surprising MPs are coming round to Proportional Representation! In coming weeks, we'll be sharing the progress we've made so far. Write to your MP today (or as soon as you can), asking them to meet with you and fellow constituents to discuss PR. 2. When they agree to a meeting, let us know the date, time and place and we'll invite all our supporters from your constituency. Or, if your MP refuses to meet with you, let us know. 3. With other constituents, meet your MP and tell them you want PR. 4. Finally - and crucially - write to the local press to tell them what happens. If your MP dismisses your concerns or even refuses to meet you, this is still a valuable press story that can pressure them and add to a wave of national pressure across the UK. Remember, we need to reach *every* MP, and there is value in talking to even the most ardent supporter of First Past the Post. For years, campaigning for fair votes has been stuck in a vicious circle - itself a consequence of our unrepresentative democracy. Supporters (understandably) often assume their MPs won't listen, so they don't meet their MPs. As a consequence, MPs don't hear about fair votes from their constituents, so they (understandably) assume there's no real demand for fair votes. But together, we're breaking the cycle! With thousands of us telling our MPs face-to-face that we want fair votes, we're creating a tidal wave of public pressure and press coverage that will give the Alliance of pro-PR MPs and parties the support they need to make this a key political demand.
