10th December is an important day for two reasons. a) It is my birthday and I am turning 17. b) It is International Human Rights Day. I strongly believe that gender equality is a human right, and it is for that reason that I am forwarding a petition to you by the 50:50 parliament campaign. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/frances-scott/gender-equality_b_7540358.html The 50:50 parliament campaign focusses on making sure that women are fairly represented in parliament and work to improve the gender balance of MPs. I don't believe that people should be elected to parliament purely because of their gender, but if MPs were elected on merit there would surely be far more female MPs representing us today! Owen
