Good news!!!

With almost 6200 signatures on this petition, Saanich Council surely felt the pressure from the public in regard to the District's critically flawed transportation proposals for Quadra and McKenzie.

At the Feb 2, 2026 Saanich Committee of the Whole, Saanich Council finally decided (with 3 opposed) to scrap the critically flawed typologies for Quadra from the Quadra McKenzie draft plan, which as this petition has pointed out, if implemented would not have allowed emergency vehicles to be able to bypass traffic!  Not to mention that the traffic would have been tragically gridlocked most of the day, if implemented.

Although this is excellent news, the fate of Quadra and McKenzie are still up in the air.  Saanich will proceed to consult with BC transit on the next steps in its planning scheme.
