Despite vast public opposition, Quadra still has mostly 1 automobile lane proposed on each side!
The Revised Quadra McKenzie Draft Plan will be discussed at Saanich Council this Monday July 7, 2025.
It is crucial that the public attend and speak out. (Instructions for attending can be found below). The elected officials, must not accept this version of the plan from the staff.
In the July 2025 Revised Quadra McKenzie Plan Draft, most of the Saanich section of Quadra is still designated as single automobile lane on either side of the road.
It seems that the planners have completely ignored the overwhelming public opposition to single auto lanes on either side of the street on Quadra. We cannot allow that opposition to continue to go ignored on Monday.
By blatantly disregarding public opinion on this crucial issue, this is not democratic planning and it will cause disastrous traffic clogging along Quadra if implemented.

Meeting
7.1 the QUADRA CORRIDOR DESIGN CONCEPT starts on p.101 in the PDF. (Note that this is the page number at the bottom of the page, not at the top of your pdf viewer, which may be different depending on what zoom the individual reader is set at).
The map of the different type of street typologies is on p.103. Note, only the small sections of red (Type 2) consist of more than one automobile lane on each side. Both violet (Type 1) and green (Type 3) typologies (covering the vast majority of the stretch) are single automobile lane on each side.

Information from Saanich is quoted below regarding the Draft Quadra McKenzie Plan at the Special Council Meeting on Monday July 7, 2025.
This is very important and will have far-reaching consequences for Saanich.
The public have not been adequately forewarned that this is coming up, and it is notably during the summer holiday season, right after the AAP deadline (and the results have still not been released to the public).

"This email is the notification that the Draft Quadra McKenzie Plan will be considered by Saanich Council at a Special Council meeting to be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Council Chambers, Saanich Municipal Hall, 770 Vernon Avenue, commencing at 7:00 p.m.
To speak at the meeting, you may register to speak in person or via video on MS Teams.
Please register by:
Emailing the meeting date, agenda item you wish to speak to, and your phone number to council@saanich.ca; or
By calling 250-475-5501 and specifying which meeting date and agenda item you wish to speak to.
