
1. Background
Teen mothers in Tanzania face significant barriers to continuing their education, I led the petition in 2017 to change the decree of teenage mothers education ban that received over 100,000 signatures and in 2022 they allowed them to have access alternative education pathways policy changes is possible through collective advocacy however many still drop out of school due to stigma, poverty, or lack of resources, limiting their opportunities to break the cycle of poverty.
Without support, these young mothers are left vulnerable, with fewer chances to secure sustainable livelihoods.
Imara Leadership Initiative (ILI) is a youth-led nonprofit organization in Tanzania that I co-founded and lead to empower more girls in Tanzania access education , together with our partners IKMER Leadership Academy we are leading this Global Community Fundraiser aimed at empowering vulnerable girls and women through education and leadership development. We believe that education is the key to dignity, independence, and opportunity for teen mothers and their children.

Across Tanzania, thousands of adolescent mothers are excluded from formal education, a primary challenge is the inability to afford basic education school fees, basic school supplies such as books, pens, school uniforms, and sanitary products.
For just $10, a teen mother can receive the necessary materials to attend school with dignity. Without such support, many remain at home, perpetuating poverty and inequality.
