This picture shows what Gualala would look like if our Streetscape is built without landscaping -- a wide highway of asphalt and pavement cutting through Gualala. It's not pretty, is it?
We need your help RIGHT NOW in advance of a Nov. 4 hearing at the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors on an appeal of the decision to strip all landscaping from the project. Caltrans sold this project to our community with slides that showed lush, native, low-lying, drought-tolerate plantings on median and curbs. On Nov. 4, the Board will decide whether to restore the landscaping by drafting a required Landscape Maintenance Agreement for this low-maintenance plan.
PLEASE HELP GUALALA CLEAR THIS HURDLE. Please send an email NOW asking the Board of Supervisors to “approve a landscape maintenance agreement for the landscaping plan promised to the Gualala community in May 2023.” A minute or two of your time now will help define the visual character of Gualala for the next half-century. (Please send a copy to Save Gualala so we can keep track.)
