Recently, 82 of our neighbors wrote to Mendocino County to ask it to restore the landscaping plans for the Gualala Streetscape project. And thanks to that effort, and support from Supervisor Ted Williams, we’ve made great progress!
Four months after it voted 7-0 to approve the project with-OUT landscaping, the Gualala Municipal Advisory Council (GMAC) this month reversed itself and voted 6-0 to ask the Mendocino Board of Supervisors to sign a landscape maintenance agreement with Caltrans. Caltrans won’t restore the landscaping without such an agreement.
WOULD YOU PLEASE HELP SAVE GUALALA CLEAR THE NEXT HURDLE?
The Board of Supervisors (BOS) will consider that agreement next Tuesday, Sept. 23. Would you please write a note stating WHY you want them to vote YES on the maintenance agreement? A minute or two of your time now will help define the visual character of Gualala for the next half-century.
For example: You can say you live, work or shop in Gualala and this is what the town wants. Or perhaps you think it’s critical to local businesses to attract customers. Maybe you want visitors to enjoy the natural beauty that drew most of us to the area. Or you may be worried about property values. Maybe all those things are important to you.

Save Gualala wants to see the Streetscape Project completed in full compliance with our Town Plan, which is also the Local Coastal Plan. It’s the law. Let’s make sure that GMAC, Caltrans, and the County understands that.
