Our aim is to get the RNLI to choose a different location for their proposed new lifeboat station on Margate Sands.

The plans they have submitted show that they wish to build the new station in a central location on the beach. This would significantly detract from the views looking out over the Sands and from the beach looking inland, obscuring many historical buildings and completely changing the face and character of the seafront. It would also significantly reduce space available to beach goers.

The proposal would have a profound and negative affect on both residents and business' alike. Margate has been a seaside resort for over 250 years and the Margate Sands is what defines and distinguishes Margate as both a place to live and as a destination

It is not only key to Margate's regeneration but critical to Margate's survival. We must take a stand and support Thanet District Council in rejecting this proposal.
