Racism is alive and well today. Blacks and whites, and every color in between, are rising up against a world that tells you:
1) to be quiet and just accept injustice
2) live in fear of authorities that treat people differently based on the color of their skin or beliefs or sexual orientation
To quote Black Lives Matter beliefs, "To love and desire freedom and justice for ourselves is a prerequisite for wanting the same for others."
However, just uncovered is Texas State Bar President Larry McDougal, who has spoken out against Black Lives Matter, calling it a political campaign statement akin to President Trump's campaign slogan MAGA.
This is not indicative of someone who loves freedom and justice for all people. Those signed are indicating their love and desire for freedom and justice for all people, and are therefore requesting removal of Texas State Bar President Larry McDougal.
It's not enough to just be not racist; we have to be anti-racist. This is our responsibility to be proactive. Maybe we can level the playing field and make it a fair fight.
"O, let America be America again, The land that never has been yet, And yet must be, the land where every man is free." Langston Hughes
