The Fun 5 Lottery Player's still need our Support.
All 7 Million Lotto Player's In Texas should be Outraged over the Dallas Court Ruling Giving the Independent Contractor GTECH/IGT IMMUNITY.
The Dallas trial court (appointed a retired Judge to give the opinion/ruling) and a court of appeals in Dallas have ruled that GTECH/IGT A billion dollar Italian corporation and independent contractor that operates the TX lottery and came up with the misleading language on the Fun 5’s tickets CANNOT be sued by lottery players, even if they could prove fraud. Something is wrong with our system.
Please sign up for FREE to the "Lottery Players Association of Texas" http://lotteryplayers.org/ We are an unincorporated non-profit association of lottery players working for a fair and honest lottery in Texas. We became alarmed by the Fun 5’s scratch-off game scandal in 2014 when over 1,000 of our fellow lottery players bought tickets that said they were winners. When they tried to collect their prizes, the lottery commission refused to pay. Although we, the founders of this association were not winners, we saw the disappointment and anguish caused to friends and relatives who thought they had won a prize that could make a real change in their lives.
A lawsuit filed in Austin by those players revealed that the staff of the Texas Lottery Commission was receiving over 100 calls per day from players who complained they had been defrauded. Even though the staff made preparations to immediately shut down the Fun 5’s game, Gary Grief the Executive Director of the TX Lottery allowed sales of the misleading tickets to continue for another 7 plus Weeks. He was later complimented by the head of the Texas Lottery Commission for bringing in a record amount of money that year from us, the lottery players.
There are over 7 million lottery players in Texas. We contribute over $1 billion to the State Treasury every year. We enjoy playing the lottery games, but we expect the games to be fair and honest. Recent events have called into question whether our elected representatives and judges are protecting us from unfair and dishonest tactics. We intend to ask them questions and to present their answers for Lottery Players to be informed.
If our elected representatives will not ensure that the games are fair and honest, we will hold them accountable. If our elected judges will not apply our existing laws to ensure honesty and fairness, we will elect judges who will.
Tell your friends to sign up for free e-mail updates. Share your suggestions on how we can all work together to restore honesty and fairness to the lottery.
Sincerely,
Lottery Players Association of Texas
