Petition updateRestore Honesty and Fairness to the Texas Lottery!UPDATE: 2-20-16 Court to Rule on GTECH’s Immunity Claim in Coming Days

Feb 20, 2016
Judge Amy Clark Meachum of the 201st Judicial District Court in Travis County heard arguments from attorneys representing the Plaintiffs and GTECH Corporation today. The hearing concerned GTECH’s claim that it is immune from suit as a government contractor.
FYI - GTECH has a $100 million dollar contract with the Texas Lottery. They are classified as an Independent Contractor for Profit.
Judge Meachum quizzed the lawyers about the legal issues and announced that she would take the matter under advisement but would rule on it without delay. That means that she will likely review the briefs and the applicable case law and then issue her ruling. While we don’t know exactly how much time that will take we would expect a ruling in the coming week.
***Time Warner Cable news in San Antonio and Austin
carried a news story about the hearing on GTECH’s
Plea to the Jurisdiction.
Both news stations ask for comments on their website about whether the lawsuit should be allowed to proceed.
