My son Jacob is 8 years old and has special needs, he has recently been confirmed with the diagnosis that he is autistic. He has many many struggles throughout the day and I do my very best to care and support him. He has never enjoyed school as many autistic children struggle socialy and emotionally. He is currently in mainstream school at Perton First school but as time has gone by his peers have grown and developed and Jacob now finds it difficult to be in the school environment due to his special needs and does not participated in the school day and becomes very distressed and anxious, he spends most of his time away from his class and is becoming more and more isolated. He does have an allocated teaching assistant which is funded by Staffordshire Education but it has now come to the point where he struggles so much in mainstream he needs the support and care of a special school placement. I made my request to Stafford education who agree to fund a special school placement I have requested he attend tettenhall wood special school that is within a 2 miles distance from our home but Wolverhampton Council have refused my request. I need help and support to fight to get him the education he so desparetly needs and should get. Due to his anxiety the only other school available to us would be a special school in wombourne which would mean longer travel time to school which would cause him severe anxiety and he could only attend there for 3 years due to his age when I would have to move him again and unsettle him. I need him to have a school place as close to home as possible to try and elevate any distress and anxiety for him as he hates to be separated from me and I need to get to him quickly to help and support him when he becomes unwell. Please, please, please would people sign my petition in support of Jacob getting a place at Tettenhall Wood Special School xxxxx
